More Time

Standard

Badona and I just recently joined the YMCA in Sandston.  They have a nice swimming pool, and that is what we joined for—to swim.  We have been there twice already.  We’re starting slow.  When you swim, you seem to use every muscle in your body.

The Y is very clean, and the showers are powerful.  The staff is very polite and helpful.  The only problem we have is that it takes two hours out of the day, so we have to give up something.   We are busy, retired people working for the Lord, and we have projects.  We need to figure it out.  Just as I make time early in the morning for personal Bible study and prayer, thinking about what I have read.  Sometimes I’m inspired to write.  There is no way I would ever start my day without spending this special time with God.  It makes you spiritually stronger to meet the challenges of the day.  So I usually go to bed by 8:30 pm and get up automatically at 4:30 am.  I don’t want to do anything that will keep me up at night even if it is church work.  I don’t want to make my mind foggy in the morning.

We also make time for worship together every evening at 7:15 pm.  Now we are trying to make time for swimming together.  Badona likes swimming, and it’s another thing that we can set time together to do.  When you put God first in your life, He provides and somehow He provides more time.  You know the old saying, “If you want something done, ask a busy person.”  I believe that God wants us to be organized and grounded in Christ.

My Own Room!

Standard

I have lived in the same house for almost thirty years and have just discovered that I have a room!  I thought that the whole house was my wife’s.

All of my fishing things have been stored out in the shed with all of my fishing equipment.  So now I am thinking about bringing all my fishing supplies into my room.  That would leave more space in the shed for storing aluminum cans.  I walk the road for exercise and pick up cans.  As I pick up cans, I pray for the people who live in the house that I am in front of.

I’m thinking about how to organize my room and where will we put the stuff that is already in there.  This room serves as my study and where I do my writing.  Our daughter left home several years ago, and she still has a room here.  Maybe I can shift stuff in there!  I don’t know when I will actually get started; but, hurrah, I’ve got a room in the house!
