Being content with what we have is very important to a happy life. Really, the more things you have, the more time you spend taking care of them. There is no reason to spend money on things to impress others. One of my fishing friends died recently. He really enjoyed the simple life as I do. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and feeding wildlife. He was really into God’s second book, Nature.
More people would be happier if they weren’t in debt. It’s a good feeling; but the world teaches that the more things you have, the happier you will be. But that happiness doesn’t last. The Bible is clear (that’s God’s first book). In Hebrews 13:5 it says, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things you have. For God Himself said, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you.’” God will supply all of our needs and extras—like a fishing hobby!
